After months of speculation about where he might end up, Mario Bolatti has finally settled his future and officially signed for Serie A club Fiorentina.
The move was confirmed this evening via a club statement on the official Fiorentina website that read:
“ACF Fiorentina announce we have acquired [Bolatti] outright from Porto, with a contract lasting four years plus an option for the fifth, the Argentinian midfielder Mario Ariel Bolatti.
The player will be presented to the press tomorrow at 10:30am at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.”
The 24-year-old already expressed his delight at finally sealing a move away from FC Porto to the Argentine media and will field questions as an official Fiorentina player in the morning.
The move completes a fairytale 12 months for the midfielder who previously admitted he was “completely lost” in Portugal following an unsuccessful move to FC Porto in 2007.
A loan move back home with Huracan under then manager Angel Cappa saw Bolatti lead a young side to within ten minutes of an Argentine Championship. He was one of the league’s standout performers and also forced his way into the international setup under Diego Maradona.
