Former Real Zaragoza captain Alberto Zapater is reportedly ready to join Lazio in a loan deal that would see him stay in the Italian capital until the end of the season.
Italian daily Corriere dello Sport reports that negotiations between Lazio and Genoa have “intensified".
The report goes on to claim that Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has received numerous offers for the 24-year-old but “has given his word to [Lazio president] Claudio Lotito."
The clubs are apparently locked in discussions over a number of deals. It is suggested that Lazio will offer Genoa 26-year-old winger Pasquale Foggia to sweeten the Zapater deal.
The Biancocelesti are also said to already be trying to tie up a permanent deal for on-loan striker Sergio Floccari.
Alberto Zapater has made 13 Serie A appearances since arriving at Genoa from Real Zaragoza in September for a fee of around €4.5 million, scoring twice in the process.
