Inter star Dejan Stankovic has admitted the Serie A giants are on the verge of completing a swoop for Lazio defender Aleksandar Kolarov.
“There is talk of an impending deal in the Inter camp,” ‘Deki’ told Serbian newspaper Blic.
“If Inter push for it, Kolarov will join us before the end of January.”
Inter have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old left-back since the start of the transfer window and are said to have stepped up their chase after Romanian defender Cristian Chivu was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a fractured skull.
“When Inter want someone, they get them,” explained Stankovic.
“Now that Chivu is out injured, we have a problem on the left flank.”
Inter are allegedly prepared to use youth product Davide Santon as bait to persuade Lazio president Claudio Lotito to release Kolarov mid-season.
