Milan Midfielder David Beckham To Start Up Front In Place Of Injured Alexandre Pato Against Genoa - Report

The England international will play in a striker's role for his first Serie A match since his club return...
Milan star David Beckham has been thrown straight into the deep end by Leonardo as he starts up front in place of the injured Alexandre Pato against Genoa later tonight.

Sky Sport Italia reports Beckham will be inserted as part of a three man attack which includes Ronaldinho and Marco Borriello. Pato has been left out after picking up a last minute adductor injury during the final pre-match session.

'Becks' and company will be supported by a three man midfield composed of Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini.

Gianluca Zambrotta is set to start in defence despite sitting out the final training session with a minor problem.

Ignazio Abate, Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva complete the defensive unit while Nelson Dida is the glovesman.

The game kicks off at 20:45CET at the San Siro.
