Inter coach Jose Mourinho has spoken of his "shock" upon hearing the news of Robert Enke's death.
The former Hannover, and Germany goalkeeper died in an accident on Tuesday.
Enke was struck by a high-speed train at a level crossing near Hannover, with local media in Germany, and the police, alleging the shot stopper had committed suicide.
Mourinho coached Enke for a brief spell when he was at the helm with Portuguese side Benfica in 2000, and he has paid tribute to him.
"I am shocked," Mourinho told Portuguese news agency Lussa.
"It's completely unexpected news that has left me very shocked.
"I remember he was serene, nice, well mannered, sensible and professional."
Germany have cancelled the friendly match with Chile this weekend, and a memorial service is expected to take place later on this week.
