It Was Important To Win - Inter's Dejan Stankovic

Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic talked about the 2-1 win against Udinese, in which he scored the winning goal.

Tonight he scored another great goal to open the score in a hard-fought 2-1 win over Udinese. Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic was ecstatic after the victory, which allowed his team to go back on top of the Serie A table.

"It was important to win," he told Sky Sports, "In the first half they caused us problems, maybe because we were still tired from the Champions League match, we didn't have much energy.

"We won thanks to the group, our pride, and our courage."

On the whistles aimed at fellow Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari, Stankovic said: "I understand him, I went through the same thing two years ago, when I was playing very badly and I didn't have a good relationship with some of the fans. But he shouldn't give up, he has to plug his ears out and the crowd will be with him."

The Nerazzurri now lead Serie A with 16 points, although Sampdoria and Juventus could overtake them again after tomorrow's matches.
