Serie A Worst Team Of The Week: Round 4

Goal.com looks at those who performed poorly in the fourth round of action...
WORST XI

Formation:  3-4-2-1

Goalkeeper

Rubinho (Palermo):
The former Genoa goalkeeper made a critical error, allowing Cristian Zaccardo headed in the winner for Parma. Coach Walter Zenga absolved him of blame, but in the end it still cost his team the match.

Defence

Gyorgy Garics (Atalanta):
Atalanta haven’t won a match this season, and on this occasion the Austrian looked lost as his side were demolished 4-1 by minnows Bari.

Leonardo Talamonti (Atalanta): Like Garics, he was left perplexed by the Bari attack. Often out of position and out of energy, the former Lazio man is capable of much better performances.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Genoa):
A step behind everyone else, the defender was the worst on the Verona pitch. Partly at fault for at least two of the goals at the Bentegodi, his side succumbed to their first loss of the Serie A campaign.

Midfield

Marco Marchionni (Fiorentina):
His substandard work ensure only one thing, that there was a chasm between him and the rest of the Fiorentina attack – did not work well in midfield and did not provide any service for the strikers.

Daniele Conti (Cagliari):
Dallying on the ball too long, his mistake led to Inter’s equaliser and cost Cagliari vital points at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

Esteban Cambiasso (Inter): Clearly short of match fitness on his return, the Argentine was not his usual energetic self in the middle of the park. Coach Jose Mourinho hooked him at the half-time interval.

Don't Cry For Me | The Argentine was not at his best

Mato Jajalo (Siena):
The young Croatian was given a surprise start by coach Marco Giampaolo, but the 21-year-old looked out of his depth in the 4-1 loss to Sampdoria.

Attack

Sebastian Giovinco (Juventus):
Usually performs when given a chance, the player has struggled to make an impact in the starting XI in the absence of Diego. Like an unsuccessful magician, the Livorno defence knew all tricks.

Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina): Maybe he has his mind on other things or maybe he is not completely recovered from injury. The Romanian was not a threat as his side were pummelled by Roma. He was withdrawn after 60 minutes.

Magic! | Mutu was able to disappear

Cristiano Lucarelli (Livorno):
He lost the battle with Gianluigi Buffon, with the goalkeeper spectacularly stopping him twice. Against the bigger sides, like Juventus, he needs to make sure those chances go in the back of the net.

Rubinho

Garics - Talamonti - Papastathopoulos

Marchionni - Conti - Cambiasso - Jajalo
