Sven-Goran Eriksson, the director of football at Notts County, is keen to strengthen the side more by bringing in veteran hitman Christian Vieri, according to the News of the World.
The League Two outfit, which is in the fourth division of English football, is reportedly willing to offer the Italian a lucrative contract to join the club. The Swede may be able to influence Vieri to join, as they worked together at Lazio in the 1998-99 campaign.
The 36-year-old, has been without a club since April, when his contract with Serie A side Atalanta was terminated with mutual agreement. The former World Cup star had been linked with moves to the Brazilian league, West Bromwich Albion and MLS side LA Galaxy. He also underwent a trial period at Blackburn Rovers, but was not signed by manager Sam Allardyce and is still a free-agent.
Notts County have already acquired Sol Campbell and Kasper Schmeichel this summer, and are also interested in Swedish winger Freddie Ljunberg.
