Report: Inter Want Wesley Sneijder Or Rafael van der Vaart From Real Madrid

VdV seems like the cheaper alternative to his fellow Dutch midfielder...

Jose Mourinho has told Inter president Massimo Moratti that he wants to sign Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder, according to AS.

The Portuguese coach has identified the Dutch playmaker as his number one target as he looks to improve his midfield options for the coming season.

However, a potential transfer seems distant at present with the both sides having conflicting views on the terms of the deal. While Los Blancos will look for a fee of around €25 million, Inter apparently deem this sum excessive and prefer a loan deal.

Reports in Marca suggest that the Italian giants already have their sights on an alternative should they fail to sign Sneijder: his international and club team-mate, Rafael van der Vaart.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has so far failed to replicate his stellar form of Euro 2008 following his move from Hamburg, would be free to leave the Bernabeu for a fee in the region of €13m.
