Lazio are have acquired free-agent striker Julio Cruz after the player agreed a deal with the capital club.
The veteran underwent a medical at the Paideia clinic and his signing has now been announced, confirmed by Lazio's official website and tuttomercatoweb.
The Argentine reportedly signed a one-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico, worth €1.6 million, with an option for a second season available. Cruz has been looking for a club since the end of last season, when his contract with Inter expired after he spent most of the 2008-09 campaign on the bench.
The arrival of Cruz could signal the departure of want-away striker Goran Pandev. The Biancocelesti will be hoping Cruz can help them improve on last season, when they won the Coppa Italia.
In fact, the first appearance of 'El Jardinero' for his new club could be against his former team-mates as they are set to face the Nerazzurri in the Italian Super Cup in Beijing on August 8. The player has been included in squad list for the match by coach Davide Ballardini.
Roma had also shown interest in the player this summer, but their city rivals have beaten them to his signature.
