Fiorentina Reconsidering Swoop For Sao Paulo’s Miranda – Report

With Fiorentina making no secret of their desire to bring in a top central defender before the start of the season, it seems the Viola are ready to turn their attentions back to Sao Paulo's Miranda, after making heavy work in luring current targets Luisao and Diego Lugano to the Franchi.

According to reports from the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Viola have only come halfway on Benfica’s valuation of Luisao. With Diego Lugano available on a free transfer, the Gigliati have been scared off by the Uruguayan’s wage demands, which are well above the club’s current cap.

With funds available following the sale of Felipe Melo, sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has turned his attentions back to highly-rated Sao Paulo defender Miranda. After being heavily linked with a summer switch to Milan, the Viola are well aware of the players €14m buyout clause.

With just over a month to go before the end of the transfer window, the Viola could well be ready to pounce as their search for a centre-back continues.
