Emiliano Bonazzoli will return to his old stomping grounds as he spent two years at the Stadio Oreste Granillo before moving to Sampdoria.
According to the club's official website, regginacalcio.com, the move is an "important objective" for the Amaranto.
Bonazzoli spent half of last year on loan with Fiorentina, as part of the move that took Giampaolo Pazzini to Sampdoria. The Viola faithful would have watched with grim faces as Pazzini scored goal after goal, while Bonazzoli failed to impose himself on the pitch.
Sampdoria are currently offloading a number of players as Gennaro Delvecchio, Mirko Pieri and Hugo Campagnaro have all been sold, while Vladimir Konan has also left on loan.
It remains to be seen whether the South American duo of Jonathan Bottinelli and Bruno Fornaroli, both on loan at San Lorenzo, will have any future under the Blucerchiati's new coach Luigi Del Neri.
