Ricardo Quaresma joined Inter from Porto last summer for a reported fee of €18.5 million, but he has yet to produce the level of form shown while at the Estadio do Dragao. However, Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho is prepared to give him a second chance.
After a frustrating mid-season loan spell at Chelsea, where he was mainly used in the reserve squad, Quaresma is now hoping for better fortunes in his second season with the Italian champions.
Mourinho has now guaranteed that the 'Mustang' will not be denied the chance to prove his critics wrong.
"He was a risk for Inter and we have the duty to give him a second chance," Mourinho is quoted in A Bola as saying.
"With the retirement of Figo, who played one last year that was very important for us, why not give Quaresma the chance?"
The former Chelsea boss has also commented on Deco and Ricardo Carvalho, two players that have been tipped to sign for Inter after a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge.
The latest reports indicate that Inter have decided not to follow up their interest in the Portuguese twosome, and Mourinho has now declared that new signings will be unlikely.
"I do not speak about players that are not ours, nor about those we may have in the future," he added.
"If a midfielder or a centre-back defender arrives, fine, but I do not think that will happen."
