Luca Toni Ready To Reduce His Salary To Return To Italy

The Italian international is desperate to make a return to Serie A and will even reduce his yearly wage in order to be signed up by an Italian club.
Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni seems oriented towards making a return to the peninsula this summer, in order to prove himself in the Italian top flight and show the Azzurri coach, Marcello Lippi, that he is not finished.

Toni wants to return to the level he was at in 2006, when he helped the Italian national team win the World Cup - but in order to do so he believes that he needs to play in Serie A.

The two main teams being linked to the former Fiorentina striker are Milan and Inter, even though no contact has been made with the German club or the player.

"I would really like to return to Italy," he told Sky Sports. "Inter? For the time being they are just rumours and no contact.

"I would be ready to reduce my salary in order to return to my country."

In the coming days it will be clearer whether this transfer speculation is well-founded or mere gossip; if the latter, Toni might have to endure another season, against his will, in the Bundesliga.
