Cristian Chivu Targets Champions League Glory For Inter

The Romanian is eager to improve on last season's showing in Europe, when the Beneamata were ousted by Manchester United...
Inter were once again dominant on the domestic front last season, but failed at a relatively early stage in the Champions League, going out in the round of 16.

Nerazzurri defender Cristian Chivu has outlined the club's desire to win the continental trophy, something they have not done for over 40 years.

"Our goal is to win the Champions League and improve on what we did last year," he explained to the daily newspaper Evenimentul Zilei while on holidays.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has reiterated that he will not be leaving the San Siro in the near future and feels he is a welcome part of coach Jose Mourinho's squad.

"I have no intention of leaving Milan, because I am not the type of player that changes teams immediately. For me, emotions count a great deal," he continued, reminding the public that he had three years left on his contract and feels appreciated by his team-mates and club management.

Chivu made 28 appearances in the 2008-09 season.
