Ignazio Abate has returned to AC Milan after a year with Torino, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The winger spent the last season in Turin on a co-ownership deal, but Milan have repurchased the entire rights to the player after the Granata's relegation to Serie B.

Currently, he is taking part in the Under-21 European championships in Sweden and was handed a starting role in the Azzurrini's 2-1 win over Belarus on Tuesday.

It is not yet certain if Milan intend to keep the 22-year-old or if they will loan him out to another team. The Rossoneri youth product has already endured season long spells with Napoli, Sampdoria, Piacenza, Modena, and Empoli in the past.

Overall, he made 25 appearances for the struggling northern Italian outfit in 2008-09, scoring once in the process.
