After news came down that Italy Under-21 striker Mario Balotelli would be banned for one match, following his dismissal against Sweden on Friday, coach Pierluigi Casiraghi has claimed it is a fair suspension.
"I have reviewed the incident of Balotelli on television and it was a slight foul play," he revealed to the Corriere dello Sport.
"We can say that justice has been done, but given the behaviour of the Swedes, on the field and off, I had expected a disqualification for some of them."
Balotelli received a red card after kicking out at an opponent following a tackle, but reports have indicated that the host nation were provoking the Inter starlet, who is known for his fiery temper.
Nonetheless, Casiraghi will have to do without the 18-year-old Inter striker, who opened the scoring against the Swedes before being given his marching orders, against Belarus on Tuesday.
