Inter Boss Mourinho Praises Fiorentina Star Adrian Mutu

'The Special One' believes that the Romanian star is a wonderful player, despite the troubles he endured at Stamford Bridge...
Inter boss Jose Mourinho is always very candid about his evaluations of players and had words of praise for Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu on Tuesday.

"He is a great player, he was with me at Chelsea, unfortunately that was the most difficult moment of his career," the Portuguese explained during an interview with the Romanian website onlinesport, referring to the player's seven-month drug ban in the 2004-05 season.

"He managed to overcome it and only a great player could do that. I repeat, he is an excellent goal-scorer."

His comments will no doubt begin speculation that the Nerazzurri are interested in luring Mutu back to the San Siro, even if the 30-year-old recently announced he intends to remain with the Viola for the duration of his career.

Mutu hit 13 goals in 19 appearances in Serie A in 2008-09, before being ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a knee injury. The Nerazzurri were the first team to bring the player to Serie A at the age of 20.
