Italy Under 21s Thrash Denmark In Friendly

Tonight Pierlugi Casiraghi's Italian Under 21 side played their last friendly before the start of the European Championships in Sweden. The Azzurrini faced off against Denmark, who are not participating in the tournament, and thrashed them 4-0 on their own ground after an impressive team performance.

Inter star Mario Balotelli opened the score after just 13 minutes, and new Genoa striker Robert Acquafresca made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

Sampdoria midfielder Daniele Dessena scored the third goal just two minutes into the second half, while defender Andrea Ranocchia, who plies his trade for newly promoted Bari, completed the rout in the 87th minute.

This big win will undoubtedly be an injection of confidence for Italy ahead of the tournament's kick-off. The Azzurrini start on 16 June with a match against Serbia, before facing hosts Sweden three days later, and Belarus on 23 June.

If they survive the group stage, they will meet a team from the group of death including Spain, Germany and England.
