Maicon Pledges Future To Inter

Inter won their fourth successive Scudetto last weekend, and it was an occasion that was celebrated in style as they comprehensively accounted for Siena by a 3-0 scoreline.

The celebrations that followed were well deserved for the Nerazzurri players; however, there were some absentees, including Maicon, who has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past few weeks.

But the Brazilian has spoken out, quashing the rumours linking him with a move elsewhere, by pledging his future to the Italian club.

“There is a 100 per cent chance that I will remain at Inter,” Maicon declared in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

“For many players, the Premier League and La Liga are attractive, but I like the Italian league. I’m happy here because this club has allowed me to prove my worth, both in Italy and in Europe.

“Thanks to Inter I have found myself back with a place in the national team.”

The right-back closed out the interview by discussing the Champions League, a competition his team will be desperate to win next season.

He said, “The Champions League? Of course we want to win it, and we certainly believe that we can.

“We hope that next year is our year, but for now we are happy with winning the championship once again.”
