Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has complimented the Nerazzurri on a job well done this season, as Jose Mourinho's men secured the title this past weekend in Serie A action.

"My compliments to Inter. They have held high the name of Milan, but we did not play well," he claimed at a political dinner function in the city, according to ANSA.

"I hope Milan will show their class and finish in second place."

The Italian Prime Minister finished off by stressing that the results of the two Milan teams is a tribute to their supremacy in Italian football.

Berlusconi has seen his side endure a trophyless season, after being eliminated in the early rounds of the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia. In the immediate future he will be dealing with the situation regarding coach Carlo Ancelotti who has been heavily linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid.
