Adrian Mutu is set to face another turbulent summer as he could leave Fiorentina if the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reject his compensation appeal.
The player was ordered by FIFA to pay Chelsea €17million for losses the club endured when he was banned for drug use. However, Mutu showed no intention of giving the Blues the money, preferring to contest the decision with the CAS. A decision on the appeal is expected to be announced later today, but in anticipation, FirenzeViola.it believes the Romanian could leave if the penalty is enforced.
The report suggests Mutu may decide to leave for a bigger club where he would earn a more substantial salary which would come in handy if FIFA's decision is upheld.
Speculation in the Italian media has linked him with German giants Bayern Munich who are reportedly keen on him as an ideal partner for Luca Toni - his former Fiorentina striking colleague.
