Milan defender Felipe Mattioni was handed debut his Serie A debut on Sunday afternoon as his team defeated Catania 2-0 to take an important step towards securing the second place in the standings.
This was therefore a special day for Mattioni, despite coming on only in the 88th minute, as it was his first official game for the Rossoneri since his move from Gremio in January.
“I’m very happy for my Serie A debut, even though I only played for a few minutes,” affirmed the Brazilian player to Milan Channel. “I hope to have more opportunities in the future.”
Mattioni then went on to speak about the significance of the victory, which saw Milan increase their lead over Juventus to four points ahead of the Old Lady's visit to San Siro next Sunday.
“This was a very important win, which allows us to continue to chase our objective, the direct qualification to the next Champions League,” he added.
Milan now have 70 points from 34 games played and stand seven points behind the league leaders, Inter.
