Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Inter Fans Motivated Me

The Swedish ace played down the jeers from the San Siro crowd and dodged questions about his future...

Inter took a potentially significant step towards retaining the Serie A title last night, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic inspired the reigning champions to a 2-0 victory over Lazio.

But supporters jeered the 27-year-old for much of the game and he reacted angrily on several occasions by putting his finger to his lips.

“The fans only motivated me further,” the former Ajax man told Rai after the encounter.

“I scored and provided an assist and only did my job on the pitch. The rest does not count. Straight after the match, it is all forgotten.

‘Ibra’ has recently suggested that he will consider his future at the end of the season and could opt for a fresh start in a different country, after spending five years in the peninsula.

“I only said what I felt was right in those interviews,” he added.

“Now I will do everything to win the Scudetto, then I will go on holiday.

“I do my talking on the pitch by helping Inter to win. I am on my way to winning the third Scudetto on the trot. I am disappointed…”
