Werder Bremen Director Klaus Allofs Admits Juventus Contacts Over Diego

There has been contact, but that's all, according to the Germans...
Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed that the German side have been in talks with Juventus over the availability of Brazilian ace Diego.

The Bianconeri are keen on the playmaker, and have been preparing to make their move to sign him during the summer transfer window. Werder have been playing hard ball over their man, but they have admitted that the Italians are making significant attempts for their target as they underline the importance of landing him by keeping in touch.

"Yes, we have had certain meetings," Allofs told Kreiszeitung Syke.

"It's normal for a club to get in touch when they are interested in a player.

"However, there have not been any negotiations [with Juventus] as we want to keep Diego here until his contract expires in 2011."

The German paper goes on to report that Juventus offered €20 million for the Brazilian, but Werder are demanding €26m.

The transfer saga, which has been going on since last year, is likely to continue rumbling.
