Lazio are in the process of making Argentine sensation Mauro Zarate's move from Qatari side Al-Sadd permanent and midfielder Cristian Ledesma's agent believes this deal will inevitably trigger a domino effect throughout the squad.“Of course it will have repercussions for my client,” Vincenzo D’Ippolito admitted to Lalaziosiamonoi.it.
“If Zarate stays, he would earn no less than €2 million per season. As a result, Lazio would have to raise the wages of all their top players, including Ledesma. Cristian deserves it because he has been outstanding this season and it’s not right that he earns as much as a Serie B player.”
Ledesma has a contract until 2010, worth around €500,000 per year. Should president Claudio Lotito turn down his demands for a pay rise, D’Ippolito has warned that they will start looking elsewhere.
“It’s not true that we are asking for €1.5m per season,” he stressed.
“But I can say that Napoli want [Ledesma] at all costs. However, we just have to wait now and see what happens with the Zarate affair.”
