Donadoni Dissatisfied Following Napoli’s Impressive Victory Over Inter

The Azzurri stunned the reigning Italian champions, by grabbing their first league victory since January.
Napoli emerged victorious against all of the odds, in their match with Inter at their very own San Paolo stadium, as they ran away with a 1-0 victory.

The decisive goal came after 73 minutes of play, when an unstoppable strike by Marcelo Zalayeta beat Julio Cesar, allowing the Partenopei to record their first victory under their new boss Roberto Donadoni.

The coach was extremely pleased with the result, and stressed that he is keen to build on this performance in the future, in an interview following the match.

“We played against a world class side, so to defeat them is a massive result for us,” Donadoni stated in an interview with Sky.

“It was very exciting to play in such of a big crowd tonight, and I was pleased that everyone gave their all in the match.

“I am a little disappointed though that we haven’t been able to perform like this recently, against some of the weaker opponents we have come up against.

“The boys have to understand that they must play with this attitude every week, irrespective of who the opposition is. That is the only way that we will improve and grow as a team.”

The result sees Napoli jump into 12th place on 42 points, ensuring their survival in the topflight this term. Despite this though, Donadoni wants his side to end the season on a high, and he does not believe that this victory will be enough to do so.

“If you think that we can forget about everything that has happened prior to this victory, then you’ve got another thing coming. We must achieve continuity from here.”
