Milan made light work of Palermo at the San Siro to move two points clear of Juventus in second place and seven shy of Serie A leaders Inter, who play against Napoli this evening.
But Carlo Ancelotti once again shrugged off any talk of a Scudetto challenge after the encounter.
“We are not thinking about Inter,” he told Sky Italia.
“We are just trying to keep the fourth-placed side, which are Fiorentina at the moment, as far away as possible. We are nine points clear now and this means we have done a good job over the past few weeks. This is our only thought.”
Filippo Inzaghi netted his tenth goal in the last seven games and Kaka bagged a brace to get revenge on the Rosanero, who triumphed 3-1 against Milan back in November.
“We started out well and did very good in the first period,” continued the tactician.
“We played the ball to feet and were very aggressive, forcing Palermo to revert to long balls. Kaka has returned to top form after two months on the sidelines and his recent performances clearly show how important he is to this side.”
Despite their recent upturn in fortune, there is growing speculation that ‘Carletto’ will leave the club this summer to take charge of Premier League side Chelsea.
“It’s true that everyone is saying this, but I don’t believe it,” he concluded.
