Report: Lazio Have Until May 15 To Secure Mauro Zarate’s Signing

Reports in the peninsula claim that the Aquile have 15 additional days to make the Argentine’s move permanent.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Lazio will be able to conclude negotiations to sign striker Mauro Zarate past the April 30 deadline.

They have officially until the end of this month to take up their option to buy the 22-year-old outright from Qatar outfit Al-Sadd, however, it is suggested that this kind of international agreement will afford the Aquile 15 more days to complete the transaction.

Lazio paid Al-Sadd around €3 million last summer to secure the player’s services on loan with an option to buy half his rights by the end of April for a fee of €5.5m. If taken, they would then buy the remaining half for €8.5m next year.

Zarate has made a big impression in his maiden season in Italy, netting 12 goals in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia.

The ex-Birmingham City man helped the Biancocelesti to a crushing 4-2 win over Roma in the derby this month and bagged the winner on Saturday at Genoa.
