Lapo Elkann: Juventus Are Not Inferior To Inter

Gianni Agnelli's grandson is adamant that Juve are not inferior to the Nerazzurri and last night’s draw felt like a victory...

Juventus fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Inter last night, despite being reduced to ten men in the second half, as midfielder Tiago Mendes was shown a straight red card for a foul on Mario Balotelli.

‘Supermario’ had given the Beneamata the lead, but Zdenek Grygera leveled the scores from a corner in stoppage time.

“It was nice to see a workmanlike Juventus trouble a lavish Inter,” sniped Lapo Elkann after the encounter.

“This result is a source of great pride for the fans and the team, particularly because we were playing with ten men. It tasted like a victory.

“I watched the game from the Curva and it was wonderful. I want to compliment the lads: they are not inferior to the Nerazzurri.”

Claudio Ranieri’s men will now turn their attention to the Coppa Italia, where they will face Lazio in the second leg of the semi-final on Wednesday.

Lazio defeated Juve 2-1 in the first encounter and the winners will face either Sampdoria or Inter in the final of the competition in Rome.
