Giuseppe Marotta Targets Coppa Italia & Seventh Place For Sampdoria

The Blucerchiati have picked up the pace as of late, and the club's GM has made it clear what they are hoping to get out of this campaign...
Sampdoria general manager Giusepe Marotta has set two objectives for his team to achieve this season as Serie A draws to a close.

The Blucerchiati are still in the running for the Coppa Italia, a win in which would save what otherwise would go down as a fairly unimpressive season.

"We have two objectives for this season: seventh place in the league and the [Coppa] final in Rome," declared the Doriani's director to Cittadigenova.com.

"We are going through a good moment, but we still have time to improve and all the will to do so. Obviously these are not the years of [former president Paolo] Mantovani, where winning the Coppa Italia was something frequent.

"It would be a reason of great pride to succeed in winning it."

Sampdoria are currently in 11th place with 40 points from 31 games, six points away from seventh place.
