Massimo Moratti Still Regrets Inter’s Champions League Exit

The president of the Nerazzurri is still hurting from his side’s elimination from Europe.
Inter were ousted from the UEFA Champions League 2-0 on aggregate earlier in the season against Manchester United, who have since progressed to the semi-finals of the competition after edging Porto on Thursday night.

Despite the Nerazzurri’s failure to score in the tie, club president Massimo Moratti still believes that his side had a great opportunity to progress and therefore knock out the reigning European champions in the process.

“We played two really good games against Manchester, especially at Old Trafford, but we did not have luck on our side,” Moratti stated in an interview with Sky Sports Italia.

“It just wasn’t meant to be, especially for Adriano, who was probably the most unfortunate of all of our players.

“Thankfully though, we are still in a great position to win the [Serie A] championship. Hopefully, we can improve on our performance in the Champions League next season.”

Inter will take on Juventus this weekend, and a win in Turin would all but assure them of a fourth successive Scudetto.
