Siena were impressive in their recent 4-1 victory over Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, but the victory came at a price as both Massimo Maccarone and Gianluca Curci had to be subbed off due to injuries.
The former Middlesbrough striker will be now miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury to his right femoral biceps. The 29-year-old has been in good form lately, despite a slow start to the campaign. He is the Robur's top scorer in 2008-09 with seven goals to his name.
Meanwhile, first choice goalkeeper Curci has also picked up a knock but it's not quite as serious as Maccarone's injury.
The ex-Roma custodian is expected to be out for over two weeks and is hopeful he will be able return for the match on May 3 against Napoli.
Both players have been instrumental in their team's success this season as the Tuscan side currently have 37 points, a buffer of 11 points from the relegation zone.
Siena next match is against Chievo Verona in Tuscany on Sunday at 15:00 CET.
