Udinese’s Marino Unhappy Despite Reggina Victory

Despite rounding off the Easter weekend games with a victory, the Udinese coach was far from happy as his side clearly had their minds elsewhere...

Speaking to SkyItalia in the post-match interview, Pasquale Marino didn't hide his disappointment following the lacklustre display by his side against bottom placed Reggina.

“We were awful this afternoon, and despite having a numerical advantage, it seemed as if we were the team playing in nine men," snarled Marino.

"I am very disappointed with the display, despite the positive result. I certainly was not expecting such a poor display from my men today, as I expect everyone to give their all when they put on the Zebrette shirt.”

Udinese clearly had their minds elsewhere as they look ahead to the crunch return quarter final encounter with Werder Bremen on Thursday. Nevertheless the Bianconeri coach remained critical of his side’s apparent lack of concentration.

“It’s only normal that our players were thinking about the upcoming tie with Werder, but we should have enough experience to give equal concentration to all competitions," he said.

"We have made many sacrifices to qualify for Europe, but we cannot just throw away our ambitions with regards to the [league] championship.

Udinese will look to turn around a 3-1 away defeat to Werder Bremen when the two sides meet again on Thursday evening.
