Lazio full-back Aleksander Kolarov scored a wonderful goal on Saturday when he went past two players before beating Doni with a well-placed shot.
His impressive feat guaranteed the Biancocelesti the three points and went some way to putting the clubs' problems behind them.
"With regards to my goal, I wanted to go all the way," explained the Serbian player to Sky.
"I tried to place it with my right foot and I succeeded.
"This was a very important win for Lazio," he added.
Kolarov explained that the celebration he made following the goal was a religious one.
"It's the sign of the cross, made in the Orthodox way," he declared, before returning to the matter in hand.
"Now let's resume our path in the league, as we must still reach Europe and win the Coppa Italia," said Kolarov.
Thanks to the win, Lazio now have 44 points from 31 games played and are just five points behind Roma and a Europa League spot with eight games left before the end of the season.
