Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani has revealed his new contract is set to be signed as months of on-going talks finally reach a finale.
The midfielder has been set for a new deal since the summer, but the progress was delayed for various reasons. Aquilani has always stated his ambition to stay, despite interest from several major clubs. At one point, reports in Italy suggested the play would walk out on Roma if he didn't get a pay rise in line with other players.
However, Aquilani has denied such talk and insisted that reaching a compromise was never any trouble as he underlined the importance and bond of his relationship with the club.
"The contract will be made official soon," Aquilani told Raisport.
"I have always said that my contract was not a problem for me. I know my potential and therefore I am tranquil.
"The contract will come itself. I have an excellent relationship with Roma and there are no problems.
"We have been in agreement for a long time, and soon the deal will be made official."
