Inter Goalkeeper Julio Cesar Relishing Sinisa Mihajlovic Reunion

Serie A leaders Inter take on Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara tomorrow afternoon. It will be an emotional day for Felsinei coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who worked as assistant manager to Roberto Mancini at Appiano Gentile until last summer.

Nerazzurri goalkeeper Julio Cesar is particularly looking forward to the reunion, however, he does not remember fondly the day they first met.

“Sinisa is a great friend to me and he will do great things as a coach,” the Brazilian international net-minder told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I will never forget our first meeting during the 2005 pre-season training camp in Sardinia. I did not speak Italian and I didn’t know anyone yet.

“During a practice match, I ended up playing alongside Mihajlovic and I asked what I should call him. His answer was, ‘Call me whatever the f*** you want.’ It took me three months to speak to him again…”

Julio Cesar has proven to be one of the more consistent Serie A custodians in recent seasons, but he feels there is still room for improvement.

“I think you can always aim to do better and I would like to learn how to better command my defensive line,” he admitted.

“Are there any up and coming Italian goalkeepers in Serie A? [Federico] Marchetti of Cagliari is enjoying a splendid season; he is complete, sturdy and has technique.”
