Palermo's Mattia Cassani Dismisses Comparison To Inter's Maicon

The Rosanero full-back believes he must improve in an attacking sense to reach the levels of the acclaimed Inter defender...
Palermo have enjoyed success this season under coach Davide Ballardini and defender Mattia Cassani has been one of the chief protagonists.

The 25-year-old renewed his contract with the Rosanero in October and has continued to be a consistent performer for the club, even getting votes above Inter right-back Maicon in some sections of the media for his efforts this season.

"I'm a better right-back than Maicon in the media ratings? I think I must improve, especially in providing assists to my team-mates in the last 20 metres [of the field]," Cassani told Radio Kiss Kiss. "When I can do that, then I can aspire to greater goals."

Palermo's next match sees them host Juventus at the Stadio Renzo Barbera and Cassani has fond memories of the previous fixture between the two sides at the venue; his last minute strike from 25-metres lifted his side to a 3-2 victory.

"It was a magical evening, full of emotion. I will tell all my children [about it]," he recalled. "That was an evening of immense joy for Palermo."

The two sides face off on Saturday at 20:30 CET.
