Inter Director Ernesto Paolillo: Adriano Decision Was Right

The Inter man is pleased that common sense prevailed after all the hype surrounding Adriano's goal...
Inter director Ernesto Paolillo believes the decision not to award Adriano a two-match ban for his controversial goal against Milan was the right one.

The Italian sports judge Gianpaolo Tosel reviewed video evidence on Tuesday following all the hype surrounding the Brazilian's opener in the derby. However, he concluded that no offence had been committed and Adriano escaped punishment.

The Nerazzurri have kept rather quiet over the whole affair, but Paolillo has leaped out to add his voice on the incident.

"I think it was the right choice and it is in line with what we expected," the director told Radio 105.

"We always maintained that it was an involuntary gesture and, in addition, all the papers reported [Pierluigi] Collina's words that a ball which hits the arm following a header doesn't result in a foul being committed."

Adriano is likely to be involved in the clash against Bologna this weekend, but minds will be on the Champions League showdown fixture with Manchester United next week.

Jose Mourinho had his players train at San Siro on Wednesday morning behind closed doors. It is believed he is trying to get them familiar with the new pitch which was laid for the Milan derby.
