Calcio Compleanno: August 28

Every day celebrates the birthday of past and present Calcio heroes. Today includes all those born on August 28.

1911: Alfredo Bodoira – Former Juventus and Torino player of the 30s and 40s, who is one of only two players to have won the Scudetto for both Turin clubs.

1938:  Mario Martiradonna (70) – Respected right back, who made over 300 appearances for Cagliari between 1962 and 1973, famously winning the Scudetto in 1970.

1939: Mario Maraschi (69) – Ex-Fiorentina forward, who scored a crucial 14 goals in their 1969 Scudetto-winning season. Also played for the likes of Milan, Lazio, Vicenza and Cagliari.

1959: Daniele Arrigoni (49) – Current Bologna coach, who will be hoping to keep the side in Serie A this season. Has formerly bossed Livorno, Cagliari and Torino, among others.

1966: Michele Padovano (42) – Ex-Juventus striker, who was an unsung hero during their 1996 Champions League winning campaign. Padovano scored a crucial goal in the quarter final win over Real Madrid, and stuck away a penalty in the final shootout win over Ajax in Rome.

1974: Carsten Jancker (34) – Best known for the years he spent at Bayern Munich, but the giant hitman also had an unhappy spell at Udinese from 2002 to 2004, scoring just two goals in two seasons.

1977: Daniel Andersson (31) – Swedish centre midfielder, capped 65 times by his country. Currently at Malmo, Andersson has worn the shirts of Bari, Venezia, Chievo and Ancona in Italy.
