John Arne Riise is confident that Roma will stand a greater chance of winning the Serie A title next season after Jose Mourinho quit reigning champions Inter.
The Giallorossi ran Inter close for the Scudetto this season and Riise believes that the Nerazzurri, who have been the dominant force in Italy over the past four years, may suffer a backlash now that Mourinho’s stay in the peninsula has come to an end.
“He has proved he is the best coach,” the Norwegian left back told Dagbladet newspaper.
“Without him, Roma will benefit.”
Mourinho will be unveiled as the new Real Madrid boss tomorrow after the Spanish outfit agreed a compensation package with Inter.
