Udinese Chief Giampaolo Pozzo Hints At Gokhan Inler Deal With Napoli

The Azzurri appear to be in pole position to secure the Swiss international's signature in the summer…
Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has entertained speculation that highly-rated Swiss international midfielder Gokhan Inler could complete a switch to fellow Serie A side Napoli at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old is hot property in Italy after two impressive campaigns with the Zebrette and was top of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s transfer wish list last year.

Pozzo reportedly rejected an €18 million offer from the Premier League side, but Udinese’s troubled season could pave the way for a summer clear-out at the Friuli and the patron has implicitly handed the Vesuviani first refusal on his prized asset.

“I have an excellent rapport with [Napoli president] Aurelio De Laurentiis,” Pozzo told Napolipress.com when asked of the Campani’s interest in Inler.

“We are constantly in touch. De Laurentiis is planning to lead Napoli back to the top and if there is something we can do together, we will do it…”

Napoli and Udinese did business last summer as Italy international Fabio Quagliarella moved to the San Paolo in a deal worth upto €20m.
