Inter President Massimo Moratti has backed Mario Balotelli to make history at San Siro as the teenage striker was presented with the 2008-09 Best Young Player award by the Lombardy Sports Journalists’ Association at a ceremony in Milan last night.
“I hold this lad in high esteem,” Moratti told the attending media pack.
“And I am convinced that his footballing skills and his great sensitiveness will enable him to qucikly become a true champion.”
Inter have loaned out unsettled Brazilian midfielder Amantino Mancini to city rivals AC Milan despite the war of words between the clubs in the wake of last month’s Derby della Madonnina.
“Let’s hope that the derby ‘scoria’ will go away then, but may the result stay the same…” concluded a smiling Moratti.
