Roma have allowed defender Vitorino Antunes to join Leixoes Sport Club for training as the two sides negotiate a loan deal, the Portuguese club have confirmed.
A statement on their official website reads:
"Portuguese international footballer Antunes today began training with the squad of Leixoes Sport Club on the orders of coach Jose Mota.
"Negotiations between Leixoes Sport Club - Soccer, SAD and the Italian club AS Roma, with a view to a loan deal for the left-back until the end of this season, are still ongoing, but due to the festive season the transfer has not been completed.
"However, as Antunes has been in Portugal, AS Roma have granted permission for the athlete to train with us immediately."
Antunes returned to Roma following his loan spell at Lecce last term, but has found little space under Claudio Ranieri. A loan deal until the end of the season seems likely should the clubs tie up negotiations.
