Albanian Under-21 international striker Brian Filipi has died after being hit by a car whilst out on Friday night.
According to La Repubblica, the Ravenna striker, who was reportedly being followed by Serie A side Palermo, was knocked down while walking in the northern Italian town of Cervia.
The incident happened at around 23:00 CET on Friday night.
Filipi, a promising forward, was out with team-mate Stefano Scappini when the car hit them. Scappini was struck in the arm, and the car travelled further to hit parked vehicles.
The youngster was rushed to hospital but efforts to save him were futile. The Lega Pro Prima Divisione B club have released a statement on their official website.
"Until Tuesday, the club will add no further comment on the tragedy," it read.
Reports suggest Ravenna have asked authorities for their game against Foggia to be rescheduled.
