Commentary

Villarreal join Arsenal, Manchester United and Roma in the Europa League final four then. On this evidence the little side from Spain will be confident that they can go one step further and make it to their first-ever major European final in Gdansk. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Villarreal will face Arsenal in the semi-finals, a rematch of their meeting at that stage of the 2005-06 Champions League. The Englishmen have dispatched Slavia Prague 4-0 in the Czech Republic and 5-1 on aggregate. Dinamo's Europa League run is over, then, but they'll always have Tottenham. Orsic too will have caught a few scouts' eyes.
Villarreal progress to their first Europa League semi-final since 2015-16! Emery's men were easily the better side across two legs, managing this second encounter perfectly. Villarreal's two goals in seven first-half minutes killed Dinamo's chances of progressing, although the Croatians rallied late on. In the end Orsic's goal was only a consolation.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: VILLARREAL 2-1 DINAMO ZAGREB (3-1 AGG)
90' + 3' Gvardiol is fouled by Foyth in his own half. Dinamo take the free-kick and that's it!
90' + 2' Dinamo's corner is inconsequential. Their opportunity to put some late pressure on Villarreal is definitely gone.
90' + 1' There'll be three more minutes of this. Stojanovic slides the free-kick directly into the box and Moreno tracks Petkovic to block his shot. Petkovic wants a penalty for handball but he'll have to settle for a corner.
Álex Baena
Paco Alcácer
Villarreal
90' Alcacer heads off after a job well done. The 19-year-old winger Baena will tighten Villarreal up late on.
Rubén Peña
S. Chukwueze
Villarreal
90' Chukwueze will not get the goal he deserves. Pena slots in on Villarreal's right.
Alberto Moreno
Pedraza
Villarreal
90' Pedraza makes his way off the pitch. Moreno replaces him at left-back for the last few minutes of this tie.
89' To their credit Dinamo are pushing. And why not? They overcame similar odds against Tottenham in the last round. The visitors have a free-kick just inside Villarreal's half but Villarreal will make some more changes first.
88' Orsic's luck isn't with him on his occasion. The 28-year-old steps up and whips the free-kick over the crossbar. Villarreal breathe a sigh of relief.
87' Albiol trips Petkovic just outside the D. Petkovic stumbles into the penalty area and finally goes down but a free-kick is all Dinamo will get. If Dinamo score this could get very interesting.
86' Orsic is pushed over by Foyth and buys a free-kick. The winger's been Dinamo's standout player again. Dinamo float the free-kick towards Villarreal's box but the hosts are completely unflustered in dealing with it.
F. Coquelin
Dani Parejo
Villarreal
84' Villarreal wind down the clock with another substitution. The ex-Arsenal man Coquelin replaces Parejo in central midfield.
D. Perić
K. Théophile-Catherine
Dinamo Zagreb
82' Theophile-Catherine's game is also over. Peric replaces him at centre-back.
J. Mišić
A. Ademi
Dinamo Zagreb
82' Dinamo make a few more changes. Misic replaces Ademi.
80' Livakovic denies Chukwueze with a fantastic save! Chukwueze arrows an effort towards the top left corner but it's too close to the Dinamo goalkeeper who tips it aside. The Villarreal man must be wondering what he's got to do to get a goal.
78' Chukwueze wins a free-kick as he's fouled by Orsic. Villarreal are just over ten minutes from going through to the semi-finals.
I. Atiemwen
L. Ivanušec
Dinamo Zagreb
76' Dinamo make an attacking change. The Nigerian midfielder Atiemwen is on for Ivanusec.
76' Chukwueze would love a goal but he'll have to wait a bit longer. The Nigerian hits the right-hand post this time, kissing the bottom of the woodwork with a left-footed shot from the right of the box.
B. Petković
Assist
Dinamo Zagreb
74' Petkovic had his back to goal but knew where Orsic was heading and Orsic did the rest. Orsic has definitely raised his profile with his displays in the last few games, even if Dinamo's Europa League campaign looks like it will soon end.
M. Oršić
Goal
Dinamo Zagreb
74' GOAL! VILLARREAL 2-1 DINAMO ZAGREB (3-1 AGG)! Dinamo pull a goal back through a lovely goal from Orsic. Orsic darts inside from the left, playing a sharp one-two with Petkovic in the box before curling the ball past Rulli.
72' Alcarer's caught offside from Pedraza's throughball. Dinamo are playing more positively now but it's surely too late.
70' Chukwueze repeats his attempted trick from earlier, cutting inside to aim for the top left corner. Again, the Nigerian's not far off.
68' Dinamo force a corner of their own down their right. Orsis finds Petkovic in the centre of the box but Rulli claims Petkovic's header with ease. Ademi goes down in the box but the referee waves at the Dinamo captain to get up.
66' Again Villarreal elect to keep possession from the corner, although Chukwueze gives away a foul on Gvardiol. There's no way Villarreal haven't got this tie wrapped up.
64' There are chances at both ends. Orsic drags wide of the far post from a difficult angle on the left before Livakovic makes a fantastic save, tipping Gerard's shot over the bar. Gerard had gone for goal from Gomez's cutback.
Moi Gómez
Manu Trigueros
Villarreal
63' Villarreal make a substitution of their own. Gomez comes on for the booked Trigueros.
P. Stojanović
S. Ristovski
Dinamo Zagreb
62' Next off for Dinamo is Ristovski. Stojanovic is his replacement.
B. Franjić
L. Majer
Dinamo Zagreb
62' Here come those Dinamo changes. First off is Majer. Franjic replaces him in midfield.
Manu Trigueros
Yellow Card
Villarreal
60' Trigueros picks up a yellow card for an ill-timed challenge on Majer.
60' Dinamo are about to bring a few players on. Barring that little flurry at the start of this half, the Croatians have been strangely passive.
58' Gerard chips a pass across the box and Villarreal retain possession. The hosts quickly switch gears and Chukwueze slips in behind, beating Livakovic. Lauritsen is in the right place to poke the ball out for a corner.
56' Villarreal take the corner short and keep hold of it. There's no need for them to take unnecessary risks given they're already comfortably ahead.
55' Chukwueze is causing constant problems for Dinamo with his pace and direct running. Majer blocks the Nigerian's latest cross to give Villarreal a corner.
54' As expected, this game is suddenly more open. Alcacer carries the ball into the penalty area but can't get his feet together to shoot. By the time he finds his strike partner Gerard, Dinamo have got the situation covered.
52' Orsic, who's been quiet, is inches away from beating Rulli with a dipping shot from just outside the box. Rulli is glad to watch it bounce wide.
50' Gerard's deflected shot is nodded back to Livakovic. Shortly after, Chukwueze powers down the right, cuts inside and fires wide of the top left corner.
49' Rulli makes a big stop to prevent Petkovic from pulling a goal back! Torres played himself into trouble and Petkovic got in behind him. Rulli was straight off his line to close down the striker and stop him from getting a shot away.
47' Dinamo show immediate improvement, tempting Rulli to tip a cross away from danger. Ademi is frustrated to be unable to keep a pass in play from a throw-in.
45' Dinamo get things started again for the second half. The Croatians have resisted making changes at half-time. The players out there will just have to play better.
Villarreal deserve their two-goal lead. They've been well on top in these opening 45 minutes, enjoying 61 per cent of possession. They've only had two shots on target but have scored with both. Dinamo have no choice but to push now and risk leaving themselves more open.
Villarreal have one foot in the Europa League semi-finals. The Spanish side have been clinical in this first half, biding their time and hitting the post through Chukwueze before picking Dinamo off through Alcacer and Gerard. Dinamo have been able to create very little. They need another big comeback in the second half or they're out.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: VILLARREAL 2-0 DINAMO ZAGREB (3-0 AGG)
45' There will be one additional minute in this half. Majer brings down Capoue in midfield and gives away a foul.
44' Gerard now has six goals in his last five Europa League appearances, making this his best goalscoring campaign in the Europa League to date. He's now only two goals off Giuseppe Rossi's record of 16 goals for Villarreal in major European competition.
Gerard Moreno
Goal
Villarreal
43' GOAL! VILLARREAL 2-0 DINAMO ZAGREB (3-0 AGG)! Albiol gets forward down the right and crosses low to Alcacer whose shot beats Livakovic and rebounds off the post. The ball rolls out to Gerard who shifts it onto his left foot and arrows it into the bottom left corner.
42' Villarreal are suddenly cutting Dinamo open. Dinamo will be desperate not to concede a second goal before half-time.
K. Jakić
Yellow Card
Dinamo Zagreb
40' Jakic is booked for an over-aggressive challenge on Parejo. Dinamo look deflated after working hard to keep Villarreal out for most of this half.
38' Villarreal have scored with their first shot on target. Emery's men have played a little slowly in this first half but they certainly weren't sluggish there. They're now in a commanding position in this tie.
S. Chukwueze
Assist
Villarreal
37' Chukwueze showed great pace there to create that chance for Villarreal. He timed his run just right and Villarreal get the reward!
Paco Alcácer
Goal
Villarreal
36' GOAL! VILLARREAL 1-0 DINAMO ZAGREB (2-0 AGG)! The goal stands after a lightning transition from Villarreal! Chukwueze was just onside as he darted behind Gvardiol, lured Livakovic off his line and laid off for Alcacer to finish from a few yards out.
36' Alcacer taps the ball into the net but there's a whiff of offside. The question is whether Chukwueze beat the offside trap too quickly to cross to the striker. The officials are taking a look...
34' Pedraza and Ristovski tussle near Dinamo's corner flag with Ristovski succeeding in winning a goal-kick.
33' After a quiet opening half hour Dinamo are growing in attacking threat. Lauritsen's ball forward from the back almost finds Orsic who makes his run too early. The offside flag goes up.
31' Jakic takes a hit from Pedraza's high boot. Dinamo get forward from the free-kick and pressure Torres into punting the ball out for a throw-in.
29' Ademi's caught offside from Gvardiol's throughball. Emery is furious at his team down on the touchline.
27' The game's starting to liven up now. Villarreal give Petkovic far too much time to the right of the box and he crosses towards Orsic who fires over at the far post.
25' Chukwueze takes the corner short and Villarreal hit the post! There's a bit of head tennis in Dinamo's box and Chukwueze drifts unmarked towards the left-hand post. The ball's nodded back to the Nigerian who crashes a first-time volley against the woodwork. That's a let-off for Dinamo.
24' Pedraza fizzes in another low ball that's blocked by Jakic. From the throw-in Pedraza gets loose again and wins a corner off Jakic.
22' Dinamo win a throw-in down their right as Torres intercepts Ristovski. Unfortunately for the Croatians they can't create very much from it.
20' Rulli is quick out of his box to spare Villarreal's blushes as Petkovic races after a loose pass by the Spanish side. The striker was almost in on goal then.
18' Alcacer spots Pedraza free down the left again and the left-back crosses first time towards the far post. It's too close to Livakovic though who smothers the chance.
17' Contrary to pre-match reports Villarreal are playing a 4-4-2 with Alcacer and Gerard up front. The pair's constant presence is giving Dinamo's defenders something to think about.
15' Villarreal's latest attack comes to a halt as Foyth crashes into Gvardiol, giving Dinamo a free-kick. Emery's men look comfortable at the moment.
13' Dinamo are starting to see more of the ball now. Livakovic prevents a rogue pass back from going out for a corner and boots it forward, only to hand possession back to Villarreal.
11' From the free-kick Dinamo get their first chance on goal. Their hat-trick hero in the round of 16 Orsic shoots from outside the box and it goes straight into the arms of Rulli.
10' Parejo lofts the free-kick into Dinamo's box but it's easily cleared by the Croatians.
9' Dinamo have barely gotten out of their half in these first 10 minutes as Villarreal have dominated the ball. The hosts win a free-kick in a central position as Jakic miscontrols and accidentally commits handball.
7' Gerard receives a pass from Foyth and clatters a shot against a defender. Dinamo are having to remain patient and keep their shape so far.
6' Pedraza bursts into space to the left of the box and hangs up a high cross from the byline. It drops out of play on the opposite side of Livakovic's goal.
4' Villarreal work the ball down their right and have a cross cleared. The hosts look assured in these opening minutes of the game.
3' Villarreal get settled in possession and Gerard has a pop at goal from outside the box. A Dinamo defender gets his chest in the way.
1' The Dutch referee Danny Makkelie blows his whistle and Villarreal get this second leg underway!
The two teams are out on the pitch in Villarreal. Villarreal are in their distinctive all-yellow home kit. Dinamo will play in their dark-blue away colours.
Villarreal should be confident. Since the Europa League started in 2009-10, only once on 20 previous occasions has a Spanish side lost a two-legged knockout tie after winning the first leg away from home, and that was to a fellow Spanish side. Dinamo have also lost their last six games against Spanish opposition in all competitions. The last Spanish side they did beat though? Villarreal.
Dinamo make one change from their narrow defeat to Villarreal in Zagreb. Petkovic takes Atiemwen's place up front. There's just the one change to Emery's line-up from that 1-0 win too as Alcacer returns to the starting line-up. Bacca drops to the bench.

Dinamo may be the underdogs here then but their stunning turnaround against Tottenham in the round of 16 shows that Damir Krznar's team should not be underestimated. The Croatians haven't lost both legs of a two-legged knockout tie in Europe's second competition for 14 seasons. A semi-final tie against Arsenal or Slavia Prague awaits the victors. Let's do this!
Villarreal's 1-0 win in Zagreb last week has made them even stronger favourites to progress to the Europa League semi-finals. That victory in Croatia for Unai Emery's men was their seventh on the bounce in the Europa League, Villarreal's best-ever winning run in European competition. Frankly, this tie is theirs to lose.
