UEFA Champions League
UEFA Champions League Qualifiers
UEFA Europa League

The victory moves Roma back up to second place, one point ahead of Napoli with just two games left to play. As for Juventus, they remain five points clear at the top of the table and will have to wait at least another week to win the title, but they'll be able to pick up the Coppa Italia if they can beat Lazio on this very ground on Wednesday evening.
The referee blows his whistle for the final time and the home fans immediately go wild! It's no wonder why, as their side performed brilliantly this evening to pick up a well-deserved victory against the champions-elect. They were the better of the two sides from start to finish and always caused problems on the break against a Juventus side that looked leggy and off the pace throughout.
90' + 4' Great save by Szczesny! Higuain bursts into the penalty area and latches on to a lovely pass before shooting, but Szczesny sticks out a foot to deny the Argentine at the near post with an excellent stop.
F. Totti
Mohamed Salah
90' + 3' Here he comes! The Roma fans burst into song as Francesco Totti comes on to replace Salah for the final few minutes of the game.
G. Higuaín
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Dybala goes down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! The Argentine has looked bright since coming on to the pitch and once again skips into the box on a promising run, but he goes down under a tackle from Juan Jesus. Both he and Higuain scream for a penalty, and the latter is shown a yellow card for his protests.
90' + 1' Great run by Salah! The Egyptian is left all alone inside the Juventus half of the pitch as he tries to counter quickly. He uses his excellent pace to fly through a sea of black and white shirts before skipping into the box, where he loses his footing under pressure from Asamoah.
90' The fourth official has indicated that there will be five minutes of added time.
M. Benatia
Yellow Card
89' After a nervy few minutes on the back foot, Roma are able to push forward through Emerson. The Brazilian flies past the halfway line and into the Juventus half of the pitch, where Benatia sticks out a foot and clumsily fouls the wing-back to earn himself a late yellow card.
88' Dybala sprints through the middle of the pitch on a marauding run as he desperately tries to find a way into the Roma box. He does well to beat two players and then takes on Fazio, but, not for the first time tonight, the defender comes out on top with an excellent tackle.
86' What a chance for Bonucci! A beautiful cross curls into the heart of the Roma penalty area and picks out Bonucci, but, despite his best efforts, the centre-back can't guide his header towards goal and sends it bouncing wide of the near post.
85' Huge chances for both Higuain and Lemina! Slack defending by Roma down the right wing allows a low cross to find Higuain, who quickly shoots but has his effort blocked. The ball then bounces over to Lemina, who unleashes a strike of his own that's deflected behind for a corner.
83' A clever pass is fired into the Roma box and finds Higuain in a good position. The Argentine meets it well and quickly tries to set up Dybala with a quick back-heel, but there are far too many defenders there to deal with the danger.
81' Mandzukic seems to be struggling with an injury to his back, and he has to make his way off the pitch to receive medical treatment. The game continues as he does so and the visitors push forward down the right flank, where Lemina battles hard but can't get the better of Juan Jesus.
79' Ball after ball is flung into the Roma penalty area as Juventus try to carve out a chance on goal, but they're unable to do so due yet more good defending from the hosts, who now seem to be operating with a back three as they try to hold on to their two-goal lead.
Juan Jesus
R. Nainggolan
78' Meanwhile, Juan Jesus has come to take the place of Nainggolan, who receives a rousing round of applause from the home fans as he makes way.
C. Marchisio
J. Cuadrado
77' Massimiliano Allegri has made one last roll of the dice, with Cuadrado being replaced by Claudio Marchisio.
76' Paredes gives the ball away over on the right wing and allows Cuadrado to cut inside quickly, but he's clumsily fouled by Grenier and has to settle for a free-kick in a promising position 30 yards away from goal. It fails to result in a chance for the visitors though, and the home side hold on once again.
74' Big opportunity for Dybala! A swinging cross is fired into the middle of the Roma penalty area and finds Dybala all alone in front of goal, but, despite his best efforts, the Argentine can only send his diving header a few yards wide of the far post.
72' Juventus pile plenty of bodies forward as they try to carve out a chance on goal, but Roma have almost every player back and do well to deal with the danger. Salah then charges down the right wing on a marauding run before doing brilliantly to win the home side a throw-in deep inside the visitors' half of the pitch.
70' Dybala is immediately involved in the action as he sprints towards the Roma penalty area on a promising run, but, once again, Fazio is there to cut out the danger with a well-timed tackle.
C. Grenier
D. Perotti
69' Meanwhile, Perotti has made way for Clement Grenier for Roma.
P. Dybala
S. Sturaro
69' Juventus have made another attacking alteration as they desperately try to find a way back into the game. This time it's Paulo Dybala who comes on to replace Sturaro.
67' Juventus quickly push forward from the restart through Dani Alves, who sprints towards the box. He then sets up Higuain with a clever pass into the penalty area, but the Argentine is quickly closed down by Fazio and can't get the better of the centre-back.
Mohamed Salah
65' Salah did really well to set up Nainggolan with a well-placed pass into the box, but the Juventus defence really should have done more to close down the Belgian as soon as received the ball.
R. Nainggolan
65' GOAL! It's another for Roma! Salah pokes a pass into the Juventus penalty area and finds Nainggolan, who's placed onside by Dani Alves and quickly unleashes a thumping strike that flies past the outstretched limbs of Buffon at the near post.
Dani Alves
S. Lichtsteiner
64' Juventus have decided to make a switch over on the right flank, where Lichtsteiner has made way for the more attack-minded Dani Alves.
62' Another dangerous cross is swung into the middle of the Roma penalty area and almost finds Mandzukic, who charges towards the ball but is beaten to it by Rudiger. It then loops up into the air and towards Sturaro, but the midfielder also loses out to a strong fist from Szczesny.
L. Paredes
Yellow Card
60' Paredes tangles with Benatia as he tries to beat the Moroccan to the ball, and he ends up receiving a yellow card for his push on the defender midway inside the Juventus half of the pitch.
58' Juventus win themselves a corner over on the right flank after a lofted pass into the penalty area is well dealt with by an outstretched leg from Manolas. The set-piece is curled over to the far post and finds Asamoah, who initially gets the better of Emerson before losing out to the Brazilian before he can get a cross away.
R. Nainggolan
56' It was Nainggolan who set up El Shaarawy after the home side countered quickly. Juventus fell asleep in the build-up to the goal and left the number 92 all alone out wide.
S. El Shaarawy
56' GOAL! What a strike by El Shaarawy! Completely out of the blue, the forward cuts inside from the left flank before unleashing a low shot from the edge of the penalty area. It takes a wicked deflection off a Juventus leg, sending it past Buffon and into the back of the net via the inside of the far post.
54' Roma patiently pass the ball around on the halfway line as they desperately try to find a pocket of space in front of them, but they're unable to do so after Salah's pass in from the right flank fails to pick out a team-mate.
52' The game has turned into a physical one, with both sides flying into challenges as they struggle to hold on to the ball for long periods of time. Tempers seem to be rising, and, as a result, it's killing the flow of the contest.
D. De Rossi
Yellow Card
50' The referee's card is out once again, and this time it's De Rossi who earns a booking after clattering into Pjanic with a late challenge in the middle of the pitch.
48' Rudiger unleashes a thumping cross-cum-shot from the right wing but has to settle for a corner after it's blocked. The set-piece is swung to the near post and almost finds the German once again, but Bonucci is there to beat him to the ball.
F. Fazio
Yellow Card
46' Fazio immediately charges into Lemina and catches the youngster from behind, resulting in the first yellow card of the game and leaving the Gabon midfielder in serious discomfort on the floor.
46' We're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
It's been an evenly fought and fascinating battle between two sides that look well up for the contest. Roma have arguably been the better of the teams and have created some good chances, but the absence of Edin Dzeko seems to be hurting them up front. Meanwhile, at the other end, Juventus took the lead thanks to a well-worked team goal but have struggled to cause too many problems for the home side since then.
45' + 1' A dangerous cross from the right wing flies into the Roma box and looks set to pick out Mandzukic at the far post, but Rudiger sticks to him like glue and is able to get his body in the way of the Croatian at the vital moment.
45' The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
43' Big chance for Salah! Radja Nainggolan, who has struggled to get into the game so far, swings a beautiful cross into the heart of the Juventus penalty area and right on to the head of Salah. The Egyptian rises high and meets it well, but he can't beat Buffon and instead sends a downward header straight into the hands of the veteran goalkeeper.
41' Roma are unable to clear the danger fully, allowing Pjanic to curl another cross into the penalty area. This time it bounces into the path of Sturaro, who sticks out a foot and sends a glancing half-volley just wide of the near post.
40' Lemina causes problems over on the right flank as Juventus come back once again, and the youngster is able to win another corner for the visitors after his low shot is deflected out for a corner. Another swinging cross is fired in by Pjanic, but Federico Fazio is there to meet it with his head.
38' Pjanic's second cross into the box isn't quite as good as his first, and it's easily cleared by the Roma defence and sets up the home side to try and counter quickly over on the left flank.
37' Asamoah twists and turns deep down the left wing as he tries to get the better of Rudiger, but he's unable to find a way past the German and has to settle for a corner. Pjanic steps up and curls a cross over to the far post, but as soon as it reaches Bonucci, the referee asks for the set-piece to be retaken after claiming that the ball wasn't placed correctly.
35' Thumping strike by Higuain! After several minutes on the back foot, Juventus are able to push forward through Cuadrado. They work the ball around swiftly and set up Higuain to shoot, and the Argentine's rocket of a shot from 25 yards out ends up stinging the hands of Szczesny as the Polish goalkeeper dives to his left to save it.
34' Once again, Roma patiently work the ball around inside the Juventus half of the pitch before Perotti chips a lofted pass into the box. It fails to find the Egyptian, however, as the visitors are sitting deep and deny him the opportunity to break through their ranks.
32' Roma are firmly on top at the moment as they desperately try to find a way in front. They're able to hold on to possession for what feels like an age before Paredes eventually shoots from long range, but his effort is poorly struck and sails well wide of the goal.
30' Perotti drifts out to the left wing and gets himself into a promising position before swinging a dangerous cross into the heart of the Juventus penalty area, where Salah tries to reach the ball but is well beaten in the air by Benatia.
28' A bit of space opens up for Sturaro in the middle of the pitch as he ploughs towards the Roma box. He doesn't have any team-mates around him so he decides to shoot, but his low effort is underhit and makes life easy for Szczesny.
26' Roma continue to cause problems for the visitors as they burst forward on another good attack. Rudiger charges down the right flank and fires a low cross into the penalty area that's only cleared as far as De Rossi, who then unleashes a thumping strike that sails high over the top of the crossbar.
D. De Rossi
25' GOAL! Roma are back in the game! Rudiger wins the home side a corner, which is quickly curled right on to the head of Manolas. His effort on goal is well saved by Buffon before falling to De Rossi, who then blasts the ball into the back of the net from close range to equalise for the home side.
23' Juventus quickly win the ball back from the restart and push forward through Higuain, who gets himself into a good position 25 yards away from goal before firing a low strike straight into the hands of Wojciech Szczesny.
G. Higuaín
21' That was great play by Higuain to set up Lemina, but the long ball into the box from Sturaro deserves plenty of praise as well. He picked out the Argentine with wonderful vision.
M. Lemina
21' GOAL! Juventus have taken the lead! Against the run of play, a lovely lofted pass is fired into the Roma box by Stefano Sturaro and over to Higuain. The striker meets the ball well and quickly knocks it over to Mario Lemina, who is easily able to score his first league goal of the season with a close-range tap-in.
19' De Rossi's effort received a slight deflection as it bounced wide of the goal, and Roma are eventually awarded a free-kick. Once again, Paredes' cross into the penalty area is a good one and picks out a team-mate, and this time it's Kostas Manolas who pulls off an audacious overhead kick that loops up into the air and over to Gianluigi Buffon.
17' What a chance for De Rossi! Benatia tangles with Mohamed Salah and brings the Egyptian crashing to the ground, resulting in a free-kick for Roma in a promising position. Paredes steps up and loops a brilliant cross over to the far post, where De Rossi just about manages to meet the ball but can only send it bouncing agonisingly wide of the far post.
15' Higuain does well to skip past Daniele De Rossi midway inside the Roma half of the pitch before playing a quick one-two with Mandzukic. He then cuts on to his right foot and shoots from 25 yards out, but there's slightly too much power behind his effort and it sails comfortably wide of the goal.
13' Slightly sloppy play by the home side allows Cuadrado to break away quickly down the right wing, but Paredes and Emerson are able to gang up on the Colombian to make sure he can only win a throw-in for his side near to the corner flag.
11' Rudiger is able to push forward for the first time this evening, and he does well to muscle his way into the Juventus penalty area. He then takes on Benatia at the near post, but the Moroccan defender is just about able to hold off the German as he shepherds the ball out for a goal-kick.
9' Juan Cuadrado cuts inside from the right wing and does well to pick out Gonzalo Higuain just outside of the penalty area, but the striker is immediately closed down by Leandro Paredes and loses out to the midfielder before he can make decent contact with the ball.
7' Kwadwo Asamoah hits the post! A bouncing cross from Stephan Lichtsteiner causes a few problems for Antonio Rudiger, who, under pressure from Mario Mandzukic, has to head the ball behind for a corner. Miralem Pjanic steps up and curls a cross into the box that's only cleared as far Asamoah, who immediately unleashes a thumping strike that smashes off the woodwork.
5' After a nervy few minutes, Juventus work the ball around well inside the Roma half of the pitch as they try to carve out a chance on goal. They're unable to do so though, as the home side's midfield put their visitors under good pressure to push them back past the halfway line.
3' More nervy moments for Juventus! Roma push forward once again and do well to win themselves a corner over on the left flank. It isn't dealt with well enough by the league leaders and eventually bounces out to El Shaarawy, whose volley into the ground bounces over to Leonardo Bonucci at the far post.
2' Space immediately opens up for Stephan El Shaarawy as he sprints down the left wing. He cuts towards the penalty area and then chips a cross into the path of Diego Perotti, who can't meet the ball and is instead beaten to it by the head of Medhi Benatia.
1' We're off! Roma get us underway, attacking from left to right.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off. The atmosphere inside the stadium is electric, with both sets of fans in fine voice.
Meanwhile, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has made six alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini, Dani Alves, Sami Khedira, Alex Sandro and Paulo Dybala making way for Stephan Lichtsteiner, Medhi Benatia, Kwadwo Asamoah, Mario Lemina, Stefano Sturaro and Juan Cuadrado, respectively.
Luciano Spalletti has decided to make two changes to the Roma side that started the win away to Milan last weekend, with Antonio Rudiger and Stephan El Shaarawy coming into the starting line-up to replace Juan Jesus and Edin Dzeko, the latter of whom has picked up a calf injury.
Juventus substitutes: Chiellini, Marchisio, Sandro, Mattiello, Barzagli, Dybala, Dani Alves, Neto, Rincon, Audero, Mandragora.
Juventus XI (4-3-3): Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Benatia, Asamoah; Lemina, Pjanic, Sturaro; Cuadrado, Higuain, Mandzukic.
Roma substitutes: Juan Jesus, Grenier, Totti, Bruno Peres, Vermaelen, Lobont, Alisson, Mario Rui, Gerson, Frattesi, Tumminello.
Roma XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Rudiger, Manolas, Fazio, Emerson; De Rossi, Paredes; Salah, Nainggolan, El Shaarawy; Perotti.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Despite suffering a demoralising defeat in last month’s Derby della Capitale, it’s been a positive few months for Roma, who have won eight of their last 10 games in all competitions. Lazio are the only side to have beaten them in the league since the start of March, but they’ll be well aware of the fact that they’ve only won once against Juventus in the past seven Serie A meetings between the two sides.
For Roma, they have their sights set firmly on second place as they battle hard for their third top two finish in the last four seasons. Napoli easily thumped Torino in a 5-0 demolition earlier today, meaning that they currently sit in second spot heading into tonight’s big clash. A win will send the club from the capital back above the Partenopei, however, setting themselves up perfectly for their final two games against Chievo and Genoa.
With the league title all but wrapped up and a place in the final of the Champions League confirmed, it’s now all about game management for Massimiliano Allegri and his men. Wednesday evening sees Juventus take on Lazio in the Coppa Italia final, and they’ll be desperate to win their as well as they aim to get their hands on a third treble in as many years.
With five points currently separating Juventus and their nearest challengers Napoli, just one more point is all the reigning champions need to confirm an historic sixth consecutive Serie A title. It’s been another excellent season for the Old Lady, who are unbeaten in their last nine games across all competitions thanks to Tuesday evening’s Champions League semi-final victory at home to Monaco.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between Roma and Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.
