That's all from us and it has been a great pleasure talking you through today's action from the Madrid derby. We hope you can join us again very soon. Take care!
Atletico Madrid kept their stellar record over Real Madrid of late intact as Antoine Griezmann's superb strike handed them a 1-0 win in the Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu. Simeone's men produced a defensive masterclass after breaking the deadlock en route to victory.
FULL TIME: REAL MADRID 0-1 ATLETICO MADRID
Niguez surges forward towards the corner flag on the counter-attack for Atleti but he gets challenged by Danilo, who puts Real on the attack again. The Brazilian has been his side's best player today.
Sergio Ramos
Yellow Card
Real Madrid
Ramos picks up a caution in the dying minutes here as he fouls Gabi. The Real man slams into the side of the Atleti skipper and sees yellow as a result.
Daniel Carvajal
Yellow Card
Real Madrid
The referee dishes out another caution in a matter seconds as Carvajal becomes the latest to enter the book. He simply mistimes a challenge but it's been one to many according to the man in charge of the cards.
Á. Correa
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
Correa goes into the referee's book late on in the game as he brings down Danilo. He lunges in with a high foot on the Real full-back and therefore deservedly picks up a caution.
The fourth official indicates that a minimum of three minutes is being added on here at the Bernabeu. Real have a free-kick as Danilo goes down following a robust challenge from Correa.
CHANCE! Danilo seizes possession in his own half and launches an attack for Real. He steams into the box as he receives a pass from Jese, before he scuffs a left-footed shot wide of the far post. Great play from the Brazilian.
Griezmann, the man who has made the difference this afternoon, shifts the ball onto his magic left foot outsidd Real's box and sends a long-range effort over the crossbar. The hosts are running out of time to find a goal here.
Carvajal gets forward well and bends in a good cross from the right towards Ronaldo. The Real forward positions himself well as he towers above Godin, but guides his effort straight at Oblak again.
Saul, perhaps feeling the strain of what has been a top display from Atleti, smashes an ambitious shot from distance into the arms of Navas. The Costa Rica international bowls the ball out and sets the hosts away on the break.
Á. Correa
Fernando Torres
Atlético Madrid
Simeone makes his second change of the match for Atleti as Correa enters the pitch in place of Torres, who put in a good shift on the counter-attack for the visitors today.
It's cracking defending from Ramos as Griezmann looks to carve out another opportunity for Atleti. The France international drives right at the heart of Real's skipper, who has to get his tackle right or face a red card and he does.
Modric drives forward towards the byline from midfield as Real throw caution to the wind on home soil. Godin races across to get his body in the way and wins his side a free-kick, easing the mounting pressure on the visitors.
M. Kranevitter
A. Fernández
Atlético Madrid
Simeone makes his first change of the game for Atleti as Kranevitter comes on in place of Fernandez, who picked his passes well in midfield as usual.
Simeone looks as though he is about to start changing things for Atleti in the next couple of miniutes or so. Kranevitter walks to the touchline stripped as he receives his instructions ahead of entering the field.
NO PENALTY! Danilo surges into a dangerous area in and around Atleti's box, before he hits the deck under pressure from Gabi. The Bernabeu appeals but the referee waves way their protests sharply.
J. Giménez
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
Gimenez gets his name taken by the referee as the cards start to stack up now. The Uruguay international has been very solid for the visitors so far this afternoon.
Real are continuing to heap pressure on Atleti's shoulders, switching play from right to left and vice versa really well at times, but they can't get enough shots off to worry Oblak.
Jesé
Isco
Real Madrid
Zidane makes his third and final change of the game for Real as Jese comes on in place of Isco, who leaves the field having created a couple of half chances today.
REAL GO CLOSE AGAIN! Vazquez gets past Gimenez and curls in a decent cross towards Jese at the back stick, but Juanfran heads it away from in the nick of time. The ball stays in play, though, as Mayoral scuffs a shot towards Oblak who denies it with his fingertips.
CHANCE! Real finally get in behind Atleti's backline as Carvajal curls in a delightful cross from the right-hand side towards Ronaldo, who heads straight down Oblak's throat unmarked inside the box.
GREAT SAVE! Griezmann flicks Juanfran's cross first time into the path of Niguez, who powers into Real's box from the right. He runs out of space as he stabs a shot straight at the onrushing Navas. Top goalkeeping.
Torres evades one tackle from Ramos on the breakaway before the Real skipper fouls him with his second attempt. The Atleti striker tries to take a quick free-kick but as Modric cynically blocks it, the referee keeps his cards in his pocket.
Gabi clips in the free-kick towards Godin who flicks it across the face of goal but Real shut the door in time. The hosts look to counter-attack through Ronaldo but Niguez tracks back on the cover and makes a good tackle.
Lucas Vázquez
Yellow Card
Real Madrid
Vazquez goes into the referee's book as he clips Koke from behind. The Real man has all eyes on the ball but he's simply just too slow for the Atleti man.
Koke gets bundled to the floor by a mix of Vazquez and then Carvajal to win Atleti a free-kick. The visitors are sending their big men forward despite leading by a goal to nil here.
Filipe Luis shines through his defending again as he gets his body in the way to stop Vazquez from driving Real forward down the right-hand side. There's a long time to go still, but Atleti are so good in their own half you know the hosts need a huge effort to score.
Lucas Vázquez
J. Rodríguez
Real Madrid
Zidane makes his second change of the game for Real as James, who found it difficult to truly get himself into the match, comes off in place of Vazquez just before the hour mark.
Koke has the ball in his hands as he gears up to take a throw-in for Atleti. A few seconds earlier saw a Real attack get cancelled out as whistles and jeers from the home supporters followed. The visitors are in control here.
Isco tries to drag Real right back into this game as he breaks down the right flank for the hosts. He keeps the ball in play at the byline and sends in a cross towards Ronaldo, but Godin gets there first with a shaky clearance.
Filipe Luis
Assist
Atlético Madrid
Filipe Luis gets the assist for Atleti's opener and it was fantastic to say the least. As Griezmann slips him in, he easily could have had a shot himself but he had the awareness to roll it back to the Frenchman to confuse Real all ends up.
A. Griezmann
Goal
Atlético Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL!! It's 1-0 to Atleti! It's absolutely sublime play from Griezmann, who creates the move initially and then finishes it off himself. He shows beautiful skill to skip away from his marker in midfield before he plays a one-two with Filipe Luis, sending a crisp shot past Navas inside the box.
Atleti haven't particularly got started in an attacking-sense in the second half yet, but it took them a couple of minutes to do so in the opening period so Simeone won't be too worried by Real's dominance at the moment.
Zidane's half-time words are working a treat thus far as Real continue to launch attack after attack against Atleti. The hosts are on the foot and that has raised the atmosphere inside the Bernabeu.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR REAL! The first chance of the second half falls to Real as Modric clips a through pass towards Ronaldo, who has the goal at his mercy, although from a tight angle. He steps up and carves his shot past Oblak but also wide of the far post.
Borja Mayoral
K. Benzema
Real Madrid
Zidane makes his first change of the game for Real as young forward Mayoral comes on in place of Benzema, who moved into good positions but didn't have too many shots on goal in the opening period.
Welcome back! Real get us under way again for the second half here at the Bernabeu.
One key talking point was the referee's decision to only show Godin a yellow card after he tugged Benzema back as the last man. Real wanted a red to be shown as the replay showed there was some contact.
It's honours even here at the Bernabeu as the first 45 minutes comes to a close. Both sides equally looked dangerous going forward, but Navas was forced into making the better, more crisper saves out of the two shot-stoppers.
HALF TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ATLETICO MADRID
James bends in a lovely corner from the left towards the centre of Atleti's box as Oblak punches away the danger. Real are still parked inside the visitors' half pushing for a goal as the interval rapidly approaches.
Navas sparkles again as a shot flies towards his left-hand side from a tight angle, but he drops low to the ground and beats the ball away brilliantly. He's had to be on his A game so far.
SUPERB GOALKEEPING! Niguez stands inside Real's box well-poised to score a header as a cross flies in from the right-hand side. But Navas oozes defiance as he punches it away with venom, wiping out the Atleti midfielder in the process.
GREAT SAVE! Niguez wraps the ball into the feet of Griezmann, who wastes little time as he wheels and fires outside Real's box and forces a quality save from Navas. Corner to the visitors.
Torres wins Atleti a corner as he goads Varane into clearing the danger he created inside Real's box. The ball curls in towards Niguez who fails to hit the target from inside the penalty area.
Filipe Luis
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
Filipe Luis gets his name taken by the referee as he fouls Modric in the middle of the park. The Atleti man tries to go around the Croatian to win the ball but clips the latter's heels instead.
Gabi clatters into James with a robust challenge as the referee allows play on. The ball eventually finds its way through to Ronaldo who tries to sidestep Niguez, but the Atleti man gets a good block in.
Danilo, who has switched to the left as Carvajal comes over to the right, steams forward down the flank as Benzema lurks alongside him in the box. The former Porto man sends in a low cross towards his team-mate but Oblak claims well at the near post.
Oblak's punch from Ronaldo's free-kick sees the ball stay in play as Real work possession to Benzema. The Los Blancos forward engineers half a yard on the edge of the box, before his shot towards goal takes a deflection off Filipe Luis and flies out of bounds. The referee, though, awards a goal-kick.
GREAT SAVE! Ronaldo strolls up to the resulting free-kick and smashes it over the wall towards goal. Oblak shuffles his feet and reads the danger well as he beats the ball away from the danger zone with both fists.
D. Godín
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
JUST A YELLOW! The replay shows that Godin does tug Benzema's shirt as the last man and that sends the striker tumbling. But the man in charge of the cards dishes out just a caution.
BIG DECISION! Ronaldo plays a quick through forward to set Benzema through on goal up against Godin, before the Frenchman falls down under pressure from the Atleti defender. What will the referee's call be?
Real have reason to feel hard done by as Isco slips a cracking pass down the left-hand side touchline towards Ronaldo, who marauds forward on the attack. However, the Portuguese superstar gets denied by the linesman's flag as the replay shows he looked onside.
Atleti have some more success through Torres moments later as Koke feeds a pass through to him from the edge of the box. The former Liverpool marksman attempts to turn and fire sharply but Ramos thwarts him in his tracks with a crucial block.
CLOSE! Atleti sparkle on the breakaway as Gabi receives a pass from Griezmann and threads quality through ball first time towards Torres, who ghosts in behind Varane as a one-on-one chance beckons. However, the linesman's offside flag raises as the attack gets quashed.
The free-kick curls in towards the edge of Real's penalty area as Navas rushes off his line and impresses by claiming the ball with good intensity. The hosts are looking to break forward quickly now.
A chance presents itself for Atleti to pump the ball into Real's box as Ramos clatters into the back of Torres, giving away a free-kick as a result. It's still a fairly even match at the moment.
It's sharp, incisive play from Atleti as the seize possession and play it quickly past Real's press to launch an attack. Griezmann steams forward on the attack and tries to play a ball towards Torres with the outside of his boot, but Ramos gets a great block in.
CHANCE! Kroos bends in a lovely free-kick from the left flank towards the penalty area as Varane leaps well but heads wide of the far post. It was a lovely attempt from the defender all things considered.
It gets said every time they play but you can't help but admire Atleti's structure without possession. Only when Real have played pinpoint cross-field passes towards the flanks have Simeone's men looked wobbled slightly.
Danilo chests a pass forward into the path of James as Real look to try and test Oblak for the first time. However, Filipe Luis shows terrific pace as he gets his body in the way and shields the ball out for an Atleti goal-kick.
CHANCE! Real almost shoot themselves in the foot again as Carvajal blasts the ball towards Navas. The goalkeeper, due to the weight of the pass, takes a really heavy touch and just about clears as Torres presses him intently.
It's a close shave for Real as Varane makes a mess of clearing Juanfran's cross with Torres lurking behind him. The ball just about flies out for an Atleti corner but the France international makes up for his earlier error as he heads away the set play.
It's top defending from Gimenez as he gets his body in the way to prevent Benzema picking up possession in good position in Atleti's half. It was a great pass originally towards the Franch striker from Danilo.
The blustery conditions play their part as Varane's lofted pass forward towards Benzema flies out of bounds. It's been a bright start from Real, who have used the flanks well so far.
Fernandez picks up the ball towards the left-hand side as Atleti look to counter-attack Real. However, the midfielder sends a wayward pass looking for Torres into the feet of Varane as the hosts get back on the front foot.
Atleti get us under way here at the Bernabeu. The man in charge of the cards for today's affair is Carlos Clos Gomez.
Both sets of players are stripped and raring to go as they leave the tunnel and enter onto the field here at the Bernabeu. We are just moments away from seeing the action start to unfold.
ATLETICO substitutes: Moya, Kranevitter, Oliver, Correa, Gamez, Hernandez, Vietto.
ATLETICO (4-4-2): Oblak; Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis; Niguez, Gabi (c), Fernandez, Koke; Griezmann, Torres.
REAL MADRID substitutes: Casilla, Nacho, Casemiro, Kovacic, Vazquez, Jese, Mayoral.
REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Navas; Danilo, Varane, Ramos (c), Carvajal; Modric, Kroos, Isco; Rodriguez, Benzema, Ronaldo.
Atletico, on the flip side, can put some distance between themselves and Real if they secure three points today. The Bernabeu has been a happy hunting ground for Diego Simeone's men over the years but they do have concerns on their mind, having failed to score in their last two games in all competitions.
Real's faint hopes of winning the league title will be well and truly over if they lose at the hands of Atletico on home soil. They can move into second with victory but are coming into today's encounter off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Malaga last time out.
Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE text commentary on today's mouth-watering La Liga clash between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
