Posta Rangers defeated AFC Leopards 2-1 at Kenyatta Stadium in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) showdown on Wednesday.

Sammy Odera and Francis Nmabute scored Posta Rangers' goals while John Makwatta scored the only goal for AFC Leopards.

AFC Leopards were dealt an injury blow in the seventh minute when Clyde Senaji collided with an opponent and could not return onto the pitch even after medical attention and Collins Shichenje took his place.

Posta Rangers were also forced to do a change after Peter Ng'ang'a got injured from yet another collision in the 15th minute and coach Sammy Omollo replaced him with Francis Nambute.

Austin Otieno could have broken the deadlock in the 25th minute but Jairus Adira dived to the right direction to parry the ball away and save Posta Rangers from an AFC Leopards attack.

Unmarked Eugene Mukangula was presented with a fine chance to score the opener in the 30th minute but his shot went off target from close range.

Posta Rangers' most open chance was wasted in the 37th minute as new striker Ezekiel Okare managed to beat an on-rushing Ezekiel Owade but no one from his side was at the right place to connect to his final low cross into the box.

Ingwe's backline recovered and cleared before the hosts could launch more attacks.

Nambute powered Posta Rangers ahead in the 48th minute when he managed to plant the ball into the top corner while inside the box after collecting Nambute's cross from the left-wing.

Makwatta scored his 10th goal of the season in the 52nd minute as he managed to beat Adira from the spot-kick when Ingwe won a penalty after incessant attacks since going down.

The Mailmen took the lead in the fifth minute of added time when Odera fired past a number of AFC Leopards defenders.

Goalkeeper Odera moved out of his way and punched the ball back into play but the ball landed on Odera's path and the striker made no mistake with his pinpoint effort that condemned a hard-fighting Ingwe side.
