Commentary

United's away hoodoo is well and truly over, then, and they return to cup action midweek as they travel to Chelsea in the last 16 of the EFL Cup. Norwich travel to Brighton next week in what could end up being a relegation six-pointer. They need to start picking up results again. That's all for now. Goodbye!
United were 15th in the league at kickoff but that win lifts them to 7th in what is a very tight Premier League midtable. 6th to 17th are separated by six points! Norwich stay 19th, two points from safety. There's still plenty of time for them yet.
United get their first away victory of the season, their first in nine away Premier League games. In truth, it was a fairly routine one. McTominay and Rashford put United 2-0 up in a first half that saw Krul save penalties from Rashford and Martial. Norwich rallied but were soon seen off by Martial. Hernandez's late goal gives them some small consolation.
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: NORWICH CITY 1-3 MANCHESTER UNITED
90' + 4' Rashford's free-kick is nowhere near goal. Tettey gives the ball away again and Lingard bears down on goal. He lays off to Greenwood and Krul is down on his knees once more to make the stop! Norwich would be struggling even more if it weren't for him.
M. Aarons
Yellow Card
90' + 3' Tettey lets Buendia down with his pass out from the back. Aarons retrieves the ball and takes on United's midfield by himself before fouling Garner.
90' + 1' There will be *six* minutes of added time. Norwich couldn't... Could they? Hernandez jinks in from the left and drags his shot just wide of the left-hand post.
89' Norwich look buoyed by that goal. Buendia approaches the United box and goes down but the referee isn't interested.
O. Hernández
Goal
88' GOAL! 3-1 NORWICH! Hernandez gives Norwich fans at least something to cheer as he nicks the ball off McTominay in midfield, powers through the middle and pokes the ball past De Gea. He's been Norwich's one bright spark today.
87' Rashford slides another pass forward for Greenwood but it's cut out. Norwich will be glad to get to the end of this game without any more injuries.
85' Garner hands Norwich a free-kick as he fouls Buendia. This game's been over as a contest ever since Martial's goal.
83' Lingard has a pop from outside the box but it's no threat to Krul in the Norwich goal. Amadou goes down off the ball again. Norwich don't want to take him off, so Tettey replaces him in defence and he'll float in midfield. Norwich's double change at half-time was bold but now looks to have backfired.
J. Garner
Andreas Pereira
82' United make their final change. Pereira off. The 18-year-old midfielder Garner comes on.
81' Krul is still having difficulties with injury. He can't go off though - otherwise, Norwich will need to put an outfielder in goal - so he soldiers on for now. All the momentum's gone from this game with all these stoppages.
J. Lingard
D. James
80' United substitution. James - who's continuing his bright start to his United career - goes off. Lingard will replace him for the last 10 minutes.
78' Amadou is a passenger now. Pereira looks to send Greenwood through on goal but Amadou can't move enough to cut it out. Godfrey comes across to deal with it.
76' Buendia receives treatment after taking a rake to the knee. Krul also needs a visit from the physio. Norwich are walking wounded at the moment.
M. Greenwood
A. Martial
75' Martial's day up front for United is done. He's replaced by Greenwood.
74' To make matters worse for Norwich, Amadou looks to have picked up an injury while trying to prevent that goal. Norwich have no substitutions left. The Frenchman hobbles on for now.
M. Rashford
Assist
73' The interplay between Martial and Rashford for that goal was beautiful. Norwich can probably afford to look to the next game now.
A. Martial
Goal
73' GOAL! 3-0 UNITED! There's no way back for Norwich now. Martial plays a double one-two with Rashford and Martial clips the ball over Krul from a tight angle. A superbly taken goal.
72' Buendia delivers a delicious angled ball out wide to Hernandez. The winger's first shot is blocked, but he gets a second bite of the cherry and fires straight at De Gea. He's made a real difference to Norwich's attack.
70' Norwich have improved in this half but still haven't created many chances. Hernandez reaches the byline and cuts back but Buendia can't get his feet together to work it through to Pukki.
68' Norwich tiki-taka the ball through the middle and Stiepermann takes a touch in the box when he should just shoot. Wan-Bissaka nips in to snuff out the chance.
67' Tettey nicks the ball off Martial but Stiepermann loses out in midfield. Hernandez gets a free-kick after he's held back by Wan-Bissaka. There's a nice rivalry between those two now.
S. Byram
J. Lewis
66' Norwich subsitution. Lewis off. Byram on.
65' United tap the ball around to slow the game down. The Norwich fans don't approve. James fires another cross into the penalty area and Rashford gets the header horribly wrong.
64' Norwich clear the corner and counter through Hernandez. The winger beats McTominay but can't beat Wan-Bissaka. No foul.
63' Martial bears down on goal and Godfrey accelerates onto the scene to boot the ball out for a corner. Norwich are preparing to make their final change.
62' Fred wins a foul as he's brought down by Buendia. United take the free-kick quickly and James rushes towards the Norwich defence but slips before he can get a shot in.
61' Buendia curls in the free-kick from the right. United head it out and Hernandez shoots, only to be closed down by about three United defenders. This game's got a lovely bit of needle to it at the moment.
A. Young
Yellow Card
60' Norwich work the ball down their right and Young slides in wildly on Aarons, who's knocked the ball past him. A yellow card is his punishment. 'VAR!' the fans shout.
58' James looks to find Rashford with a beautifully weighted pass but it's blocked by Lewis and loops up for Krul to claim. United are still on top, but this doesn't feel like it's over yet.
57' Young attracts the ire of the referee for treading on Buendia's foot with a late challenge. United's captain gets away with just a telling off.
56' Norwich are looking more purposeful. Aarons intercepts a United attack and carries the ball forward down the right, waiting for support. United manage to get a throw out of it though.
54' McTominay rattles a shot against a Norwich defender. United get another corner. Stiepermann nods the initial delivery away and Fred blazes over on the volley.
53' Another terrific save by Krul! James drops another delicious cross from the right that Amadou can only chest towards goal. Martial shoots instinctively and Krul makes himself big to keep it out. He's been magnificent. United do nothing with the corner.
51' United get their seventh corner of the game. The ball dips in to Maguire. The defender fires a shot wide that he surely didn't know much about.
50' Hernandez is causing United problems with his trickery. Hernandez slips on the turf and takes Wan-Bissaka down with him, giving away a foul.
48' Buendia picks out Hernandez, who crashes into Wan-Bissaka in United's box. The Norwich fans inevitably clamour for a penalty. The winger's flagged offside beforehand. A brief VAR check agrees with that decision.
47' Chance for Norwich! Aarons powers down the right and reaches the byline before cutting back to Pukki, whose shot is over the bar. That's better from the home side.
46' Norwich get the second half underway. Hernandez makes an immediate impression by forcing Wan-Bissaka to block two crosses in a row near the goalline. Hernandez will definitely pose a more direct threat than Cantwell.
M. Stiepermann
M. Leitner
46' Second, Leitner is replaced by Stiepermann. Norwich need more power in midfield to fight their way back into this.
O. Hernández
T. Cantwell
46' A double change for Norwich at half-time. First, Cantwell is replaced by the rapid Cuban winger Hernandez.
Norwich's goalscoring form is heavily reliant on Pukki's. The Finn got 6 goals and 2 assists in his first five Premier League games but has failed to score or make any goals in his last four. The home side will need him to rediscover his finishing if they want to get anything from this game.
Boos ring out around Carrow Road at the referee's half-time whistle. Well, that first half wasn't boring. United have easily been the better side and could easily be 4-0 up for two excellent penalty saves by Krul. Norwich have been largely toothless. That said, their keeper's heroics and their hatred of VAR might give them a sliver of belief.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: NORWICH CITY 0-2 MANCHESTER UNITED
45' + 2' There are three minutes of added time in this first half, by the way. Buendia feeds Pukki who gets into United's six-yard box and hits the side-netting from a tight angle.
A. Wan-Bissaka
Yellow Card
45' + 1' Wan-Bissaka receives a yellow card for a nasty late challenge on Lewis. He's lucky not to see red for that.
45' Krul comes to the rescue again as he tips Fred's long-range rasper from the corner over the bar. United are peppering the Norwich goal. From another United corner, Maguire's header is blocked and Norwich manage to clear.
A. Martial
Penalty Miss
44' That's another average penalty from Martial. United need to do some more practice in training.
T. Krul
Penalty Save
44' KRUL SAVES AGAIN! Krul guesses the right way and dives to his left, keeping Martial's effort out with his fingertips! He's not to blame for his side being behind. United have a corner.
42' PENALTY TO UNITED! That's sloppy defending from Cantwell. Norwich have conceded two penalties in 15 minutes. Now it's Martial's turn to try to beat Krul...
41' Could this be another United penalty? From the corner Fred lets fly. Cantwell turns his back and leaves an arm trailing, sending it out for a corner. There'll be yet another VAR check...
39' Lewis shoots from outside the box but misses as he's faced by a wall of United defenders. Up the other end, United get a corner of their own off Aarons.
37' Pereira has a pop from outside the box and fires wide. Norwich quickly go on the counter-attack through Pukki, who's got space in front of him. He passes left to Cantwell, whose shot is saved by De Gea! Norwich corner.
36' Martial slaloms his way into Norwich's penalty area and is tripped slightly by Buendia but stays on his feet. There's a VAR check but this time there's no penalty.
34' Buendia commits two fouls in quick succession, first against McTominay then against Young. Pukki must wish the Argentine would support him instead - the Finn's been living on scraps so far.
32' Rashford forces another save from Krul as the England striker cuts in from the left and fizzes a shot towards the near post. Norwich need to get to half-time at this rate.
M. Rashford
Goal
30' GOAL! 2-0 UNITED! Rashford latches onto a cross from the right and lashes the ball past Krul. That was too easy.
D. James
Assist
30' Norwich were wide open for James' cross there. There was a gap between Norwich's centre-backs the width of Norfolk. They're going to struggle to stay up this season if they keep defending like that.
M. Rashford
Penalty Miss
29' That was a poor penalty by Rashford, who isn't known for missing from the spot. Norwich have been given a reprieve. Will United live to rue that miss?
T. Krul
Penalty Save
29' KRUL SAVES THE PENALTY! Rashford takes a stuttering run-up and fires low to Krul's right, and the keeper dives down to keep it out and grab it! That's justice, you have to say.
B. Godfrey
Yellow Card
27' Godfrey gets booked, to add insult to injury. Norwich fans will debate that decision. Never mind. Rashford steps up to take the penalty...
26' VAR are taking a *long* look at this. On second look, James has leant into Godfrey to buy the penalty, but the officials have given it! Norwich's players are not happy.
24' That goal's given United some confidence and now they almost score again! James races through on goal and is brought down in the box by Godfrey. The referee tells James to get up. VAR are taking a look anyway...
22' That McTominay goal is Manchester United's 2000th goal in the Premier League. They're the first club to reach that milestone. Of course, football wasn't invented in 1992, but whatever.
S. McTominay
Goal
21' GOAL! 1-0 UNITED! The visitors get a second corner that Norwich fail to clear away. Pereira fizzes the ball back into the box and it deflects to McTominay, who skids a shot into the net first-time.
19' A rogue header by Norwich's makeshift centre-back Amadou hands United their first corner of the game. Pereira's delivery pings around in the Norwich area and Krul stops Martial's header at point-blank range! That's a magnificent save.
18' Norwich over-commit from the throw and United threaten to score! Rashford rushes away on the counter and fires a low shot at Krul that the keeper stops with his legs.
17' Young takes too long to cross and when he does, it's already signposted to Aarons. Norwich get it forward and win a throw down their left.
16' Norwich are handling United's threat well. McTominay sends a pass down the channel for Wan-Bissaka and Lewis sees it off.
14' United are having to wait for their chances at the moment. It's easy to see why they've failed to score more than once in any of their last eight away games.
13' Norwich work the ball out from the back as Tettey finds Aarons wide right. Aarons skips into the penalty area and blasts a cross across goal which De Gea claims. No fear from the 19-year-old.
12' Norwich are on the attack again, patiently keeping the ball on the edge of United's box. Cantwell twists and turns but is pickpocketed by Fred.
11' Pereira picks up where Young left off on the left flank and checks inside to fire a dipping shot towards the far post. It bounces just wide.
10' Leitner tries to make his way down the flank but sloppily lets the ball go out for a throw. United switch the play quickly to Young, whose shot is blocked.
9' Wan-Bissaka passes inside to no one in a red shirt. Norwich tinker around with the ball in their box before Krul belts it forward. No messing about from the Dutch keeper.
8' Rashford tries to beat Aarons to get into the Norwich box but the young full-back stands firm. Norwich look content to let United take the initiative and play on the counter-attack.
6' Solskjaer won't be happy with how easily United were cut open there. The home side may be a newly promoted side but they've already shown they're not afraid of the bigger boys.
5' The first chance goes Norwich's way! Aarons powers down the right and rolls the ball to Cantwell on the edge of the box but the Norfolk lad skies his effort. That should have been at least on target.
4' Lewis carries the ball down the left and looks inside for a teammate but his pass goes awry. Norwich look alert but need to stay that way for the whole 90 minutes.
3' Krul punts forward from a goal-kick and Pukki can't win the second ball. Headers aren't in his game. United have started brightly so far.
2' United carefully keep possession, building their first attack. Wan-Bissaka loops in a cross from the right but it's deflected and Norwich clear.
1' United get this game underway!
The two sides walk onto the Carrow Road pitch. There's a minute's applause in memory of Norwich legend Duncan Forbes, who died this week aged 78.
If this were the United of old, you'd be reasonably confident of an away victory. United have won six of their last eight Premier League games away to Norwich, with their last two visits resulting in 1-0 wins. However, Norwich are a more entertaining outfit these days, especially at Carrow Road. They've scored 23 of their last 25 Premier League goals here. Don't bank on this being a bore.
Norwich boss Daniel Farke names an unchanged side from the one that kept a first clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw against Bournemouth last week. There's only one change to Man Utd's last Premier League starting line-up against Liverpool as they revert to a 4-2-3-1. Martial comes in for Rojo.
SUBS: Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, James Garner, Brandon Williams, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Ashley Young (c); Scott McTominay, Fred; Daniel James, Andreas Pereira, Marcus Rashford; Anthony Martial.
SUBS: Sam Byram, Josip Drmic, Onel Hernandez, Dennis Srbeny, Michael McGovern, Tom Trybull, Marco Stiepermann.
NORWICH CITY (4-1-4-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Ibrahim Amadou, Ben Godfrey, Jamal Lewis; Alexander Tettey (c); Emiliano Buendia, Moritz Leitner, Kenny McLean, Todd Cantwell; Teemu Pukki.
Norwich have also struggled since their stunning victory against Manchester City a few weeks ago. However, Norwich are always better in front of a home crowd at Carrow Road, and no Premier League meeting between these two sides has ever finished level. We might just be in for a cracker.
Man United finally won away for the first time this season in Belgrade midweek. However, the Reds' domestic form and lack of goals mean they still start this game 15th in the Premier League table - not a position befitting of a club of their stature.
